Quality Assurance and Development (QAD) Department

The department is responsible for testing and monitoring of products and services quality to confirm compliance with technical, safety and health standards. It manages the Council’s laboratories and interfaces with other organisations with similar facilities and mandates.

The department works closely with other operational departments by providing technical data and other necessary expertise for monitoring of products and services for public enlightenment and the resolution of consumer complaints.

It is the Council’s direct and functional interface with national and international standards bodies and other regulators with respect to the development and review of standards for products and services. The department also issues guidelines for the enforcement of quality standards to safeguard consumers’ interest and guarantee value for money.

It collaborates with international organisations to enhance consumer protection and ensure ethical practices that guarantee efficient cross-border trade and best global practices.
